Fourth of July
Our Fourth of July this year was pretty low key which was wonderful!! We do not usually do things low key and the kids had a great time! We did a few sparklers in the back yard in the evening and the went to find the big Gilbert Firework show in our pajamas!
We also went to Ocean Blue our favorite frozen yogurt joint and I went crazy and let the kids play in the fountain!! They seriously had more fun then anything that costs money! Even Emily decided to hop in. There is nothing greater then the laughter of little children!

Sorry
Sorry to all those added through email, that I am flooding your inbox with messages. Feel free to delete them quickly, I just wanted to journal our summer for my family and it seems I was too busy to post them this summer! Thanks for being patient!
Val Vista Lakes 2011 Sandcastle Contest
Kids Club!
Emily loved the Merry-go-Round!
Friends!
Cousins!
Almost every Thursday during the summer we get to go to the Superstitions Springs Mall Kids Club! They have a stage and a singing and dancing show! Then the kids can the Merry-go-Round for free and see a movie at the dollar theater for free! It is wonderful! Sometimes we get deals on food their too and other times we bring our own! The kids love it when we met friend there or take people with us! We saw so many movies this summer because of this and it was something to look forward too!
The Frog Game
My Spiderman
Around here our friends have started calling Ryan Spiderman. He can do amazing jumps and tricks! One night after coming out of the mall for our date Ryan decided to climb up this 12 foot wall. So with in just a few tries he was up on top of it, obviously I did not have my camera out by the time he had climbed on top but it was pretty impressive. Especially because he was wearing slippers! I admire his ability to be so daring and adventurous!
Crazy Boys!
As I was cleaning in the front room one afternoon I heard silence....followed by giggles and squeals. I opened the door to find this! Yes, that is Taft and Kenzie in Alissa's clothes. They are so silly. It is the only time they have played dress up together. Taft has made it a regular event and almost everyday for awhile we would see him in a different dress of Alissa's because he wanted to be like his sister. Well, he is over it now but it was hard not to worry. (lol) Now looking back I realize it was cute and funny!

Swim, Swim, Swim
For a big part of our summer we spend our time here. I am so proud to say that all of my kids now can swim! I do not think I ever knew more then doggy paddling. Emily is still in the early phase, but Alissa, Kenzie and Taft so fantastic! They love being in the water, under the water and around the water. We are so lucky to live in a community that looks this gorgeous! On one side is a lake and the other an amazing fountain! We love having friends and family come swim with us and the sand toys are the best!
Lessons on Nature
This summer we had a great opportunity to learn some about Nature and God's creations. The kids had swim team four to five days a week. Each day it was a joy to go to the clubhouse and see these beauties. The kids loved watching the Momma duck as she would come to the nest and sit on her eggs. We talked about the joy of being a mom and how she was taking care of her ducklings!
Val Vista Lakes Swim Team
This is the first year the kids participated in swim team. We were not sure we wanted to do it because of the early morning time commitment most of the summer. I am so thankful we did! They had a great time the first half of the summer. They started to get tired the second half but they pushed through and continued. I think they learned a lot about hard work and being committed. The coaches were amazing and super friendly too! I am glad we live in such a great community with so many wonderful opportunities.
Alissa was one of the younger girls in her division and averaged ribbons between 5th and 8th. She worked very hard and was always trying to improve. She loved to get their early and help set up the lines by carrying the dividers the length of the pool. It was hard work!
Kenzie was quite hilarious. He didn't quite have the drive to follow through, and would get tired at practices easily. He maintained consistency though, and completed every race he was in. His ribbons were usually between 4th and 7th.
We focused on teaching the kids that what place you get doesn't matter but it is important that you do your best and have fun!
Some favorite things to remember: Alissa and her friends loved the boy coaches(high school boys), running and jumping in the pool with a line of about ten kids long, swimming with friends afterwards, Emily falling asleep in her stroller, Emily wanting to learn to swim, Coach pointing out how much self control Emily had without jumping in the pool, Taft and Asher with goggles on making silly faces, and most of all everyone wanting to always be in the hot tub!
Alissa with the yellow goggles and her friend Sela taking their marks!
Kenzie not wanting to take his marks.
Kenzie is in the very middle and probably the whitest kid in the picture!
Aunt Sonia's Birthday
For Aunt Sonia's Birthday this year we decided to go to As You Wish and paint her a nice platter! The kids had a great time and made a very bright and cheery platter. I love Taft's silly face in this one! I am so thankful that my kids get to have her nearby. They all love her playfulness and energy! She is soo much fun! Alissa especially loves Aunt Sonia sleepovers!
Summer Cooking Class
A young woman in our ward auctioned a week long cooking class to earn money for camp so we signed up! All three of the older kids got to go. I was a bit worried about Taft because he has never been to preschool or away from me really in this manner. They had so much fun making treats from all over the world for the week! Alissa loved to have her cookbook and help with the older girls. The boys were crazy wild a few days with their friends and had lots of fun! Their favorites were Monkey Bread, Milkshakes and Crepes!!

Kenzie's 6th Birthday Party
For Kenzie's Birthday Party this year he wanted to go to Bounce U in Gilbert. Sheesh with the big parties these guys want but seriously I am amazed how much they look forward to it each year. It means a lot to them. We have a rule, either a party of presents from parents. Obviously most choose the party which is fine because I can do them for pretty good deals. We had a Deal Chicken coupon for Kenzie's which made it half the normal price! I love saving money!!
These pictures ended up backwards. So, here is the second half of the party. We went to a park near Bounce U and had cake, ice cream and treats.
Kenzie getting tired but loving his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cake!
Playing games with the coolest Dad ever!
Ryan explaining the game!

May Staycation with Friends
School was out the end of May this year! So, on May 27th to kick off our summer we went with The Eberhards and the Stansfields to the Arizona Grand Resort! It has a water park too!
We just stayed for one night but it was jam packed with fun! We got to get some rest!
We rolled down giant golf course hills at night!
We ate dinner at Rustler's Roost which had a great view of Phoenix! I wish I could say the blurriness was due to privacy for the families but everyone just moves around too much! :)
We danced to a live country band!
We saw a real bull!
